Members' Restaurant Launch

OFFICIAL INVITATION

Do you find yourself at a loose-end this evening?

Perhaps you are unemployed; cannot be bothered to cook; or simply feeling the pinch at home at the thought of Council Tax rising next year, and this is making you feel unwell.

....Why not attend a respectable function at the National Assembly.

As Assembly Member and Assembly Commissioner Lorraine Barrett AM respectfully reminds us:

Don't forget to come along to the opening of the new restaurant on the first floor tonight at 6.30pm. Click on the XXX below for more details which were sent to you by Charlton House.

Regards,
Lorraine

Lorraine Barrett AM
Cardiff South & Penarth
National Assembly for Wales
Cardiff CF99 1NA

Thank you to Lorraine for the invitation, but I'll be dining with my partner this evening. We do however share something in common - Like yourself, I'll be getting a freebie as he's paying.

That woman is beyond the pale. Beggars belief.

Ah! This takes me back. Good to see she's gone from strength to strength. What is it with Lorraine Barrett and champagne receptions?

It's interesting to see that Lorraine Barrett thinks that opening a new members restaurant is a thing to be proud of. Rather than what it really is, a crying waste of public money and something that Assembly members should be ashamed of, not bragging about and inviting other to. I hope she chokes on the canapes - a fair comment considering my taxes paid for them!!!!

It's one thing to need a new restaurant to entertain VIPs etc, another that it cost £240k. But to openly advertise it's Champagne reception to friends, colleagues etc when her constituents will be tightening their belts is taking the 'you know what' out of the public.

Ha ha - thats just bloody typical, nice to see Lorraine is working as hard as ever. Trying to protect and serve the innocent citizen clearly isn't top of her priorities if she's quaffing champagne and inviting all her friends along too. Maybe a bit less champagne drinking, a bit more working for those who elected you, and a lot more careful consideration of what you spent the tax payers money on Lorraine!!!!

Anonymous 15 November 2007 at 13:32

This is a bloody disgrace. Does anyone know who was invited?

Seneddwr! You're alive!

Miss Wagstaff 15 November 2007 at 13:41

"Seneddwr! You're alive!"

I had the very same thought which is why I've now placed a link to his blog on my blogroll. It was such a good blog that he may be tempted to return one day.

Anonymous 15 November 2007 at 15:35

I don't care what others say. I'm gonna get myself a reservation one day soon even if I have to wait in reception all day.

Anonymous 15 November 2007 at 17:37

Lorraine should be dragged from the Senedd and flogged on the entrance steps for this insensitive invitation.

What do you mean you had the same though? you are seneddwr....and arsembly for that matter. Your so obvious!

Miss Wagstaff 15 November 2007 at 18:12

Doesn't everyone get accused of being Arsembly and Seneddwr from time to time? I'll consider it a compliment, even if I am the wrong sex.

Lorraine must have finished by now and back in work. As it's a Friday she'll be having some down time.

Anonymous 16 November 2007 at 13:34

I wonder why not many have blogged on this topic

Anonymous 16 November 2007 at 19:13

Why has no-one mentioned the AMs Champagne reception other than yourself and Withers?

Sounds like most bloggers were invited and didn't want to put a dampener on things.

I use the phrase 'most bloggers' as most of them are AMs or staff of AMs.

bethan 16 November 2007 at 22:15

Can I add that I did not receive an invite to this, or the email as posted here. I'm quite pleased to be honest. I think that any development like this should be made available to the public.

Anonymous 16 November 2007 at 22:34

canape and champagne? Whatever happened to the good old fashioned gravy train.

Lorraine Barrett, ain't her hubby one of the leaders of some Stalinist Communist faction?

Miss Wagstaff 18 November 2007 at 09:26

Bethan - Good for you that you chose to boycott out of principle. I do hope that you were invited though, otherwise it would appear that there's a two-class system when it comes to Assembly Members.

Anonymous 18 November 2007 at 10:08

We dibnt blog cos we didnt know about it
I wonder if Huw and Lynne went - they are closet Champagne socialists
Lorraine is planning her after Assembly life isnt she - rent a crowd.

bethan 18 November 2007 at 15:59

well I didn't get the email and I didn't see any invitation in my mail... Perhaps they just assumed I wouldn't want to go to it! I don't tend to do the Cardiff Bay scene thing.

Miss Wagstaff 19 November 2007 at 12:01

VM - I thought all socialists are 'Champagne Socialists', or atleast on the quiet.

Bethan - Does this mean that you are warming up to the idea of being my Facebook friend?

Miss Wagstaff 20 November 2007 at 18:28

What can I say? A member of Lorraine Barrett's staff had accepted me as a friend on Facebook and then removed me moments later.

Anonymous 21 November 2007 at 16:53

"Doesn't everyone get accused of being Arsembly and Seneddwr from time to time? I'll consider it a compliment, even if I am the wrong sex."

Anonymous 21 November 2007 at 17:00
