Gis a job, Rhod

Miss Wagstaff has drawn my attention to Rhodri Morgan's advertisement for a new helper. (Hat-tip to Southpaw Grammar)

Constituency Assistant at the Welsh Assembly

Rhodri Morgan AM (Cardiff West)
£16805 - £24865, pro rata.

As no member of my family is available to work for me, I am advertising for a member of staff to assist me in my constituency duties working at the Assembly in liaison with the main Cardiff West constituency office in Transport House.

Duties involve arranging school and other constituency visits to the Assembly, constituency-oriented meetings, monitoring my email inbox and responding as required, preparing constituency activity press releases, liaising with my Ministerial private office support staff and Special Advisers, the Labour AM Group Office, Welsh Labour Party HQ staff, Trade Unions and Labour members, especially as regards logistics and diary arrangements etc.

Good understanding of and sensitivity re Labour movement issues are vital. Role could be part-time but those interested only in full-time work should not be discouraged from applying.

Before anyone gets too excited about the use of humour and prospect of a vacancy, please bear in mind that one man may make a family member available reasonably soon - at the next General Election.

Miss wagstaff,

I was going to mention Julie, although if you really want to be picky by the time she could potentially be unseated Rhodri would have retired...

So well done (ish) haha

Thought Rhodri is stepping down in 2011, or is the staff vacancy to do with his role as leader?

Why bother with this when a councillor's son in the Rhondda according to the Echo it seems can be employed by the council without an interview for the princely sum of £60k. It also helped that he was Labour candidate in the 2004 council election it seems. Nice work if you can get. Mid Glamorgan it seems is still alve and weel in the valleys. some of us are ols enough to rememeber when the former Sec of the Mid Glamorgan Labour Party was made Director of Education. Now I wonder where he came from?

Isn't is true that any so-called vacancy has already been filled before the advert has come out? As public money is used any job has to be advertised in the first place but the public are fooled into thinking that they have a chance, when the job tends to go to a a 'close-friend'.

Kevin Brennan MP worked for Rhodri Morgan - so on and so forth down the line.
