Welsh Political Awards and National Assembly bias

Strange that there are 3 non-government Assembly Members among the winners of ITV's Welsh Political Awards, and the website of the National Assembly for Wales only manages to announce Dafydd Elis-Thomas as a winner.

Just who clears press releases from the National Assembly these days? Seems clear to me who runs the show at the Senedd.

anyone elese noticed how this blog goes quiet when the Welsh Tories are in trouble?

It went silent over Bourne's other big gaffe this year.

Pull the plug on this blog 'Pippa' (or is it Richard?) your cover is well and truly blown AND worse still for you, 'One Wales' remains in place and intact, as strong as the day the deal was signed!

Now crawl back under your stone, there's a good 'girl' :-)

MISSION INCOMPLETE! Ha-bloody-ha!

The claims, revealed in a breakdown of AMs' expenses and allowances, are permitted within the current rules.

Hardly a scandal in anyone's book.

Anonymous 14 December 2008 at 22:04

Sounds like someone doesn't like the fact that Richard handles himself and the parties activities well down the bay.

Anonymous 14 December 2008 at 22:23

All this media fuss over an iPod to learn Welsh! However, some of the expenses are unreasonable, and he's not the only guilty party.

Anonymous 14 December 2008 at 22:56

sorry to say that the Nick Boune story only seems to be of interest to a handful of people in welsh blogland and desperate journos who need to fill news and columns over Christmas instead of real news, as much as Tranport House would like it to dominate the news to hide all the economic woes and WAG's continued failure on the economy.

anon(22:56)> well said. It's sad that the WM and Echo are letting the Welsh Assembly Government off the hook 'yet again'.

It is more than suspicious that thsi blog goes AWOL when the Tories are in trouble

No mention of Cairns racist comments
No Mention of the Lord Roberts fiasco
No mention of the Rhodri Dossier mess
No mention of leadership challenge to Bourne
No mention of the expenses.

And it claims not to be a Tory mouthpiece! lol!

Anonymous 15 December 2008 at 12:17

1) No mention of Cairns racist comments - even the Welsh/Italian community laughed off the comment.

2) No Mention of the Lord Roberts fiasco - The report was the common sense approach.

3) No mention of the Rhodri Dossier mess - Rhodri deserved the criticism.

4) No mention of leadership challenge to Bourne - Haven't seen JM on the steps of the Senedd. Rumour and gossip.

5) No mention of the expenses - all parties were seen in a bad light.

"It is more than suspicious that this blog goes AWOL when the Tories are in trouble"

The clue is in the heading...

Pippa Wagstaff is taking a short break to deal with a family issue. Posts have been drafted and will be published at set intervals until she returns. Blogs will continue to be posted by other contributors [31 October 2008].

Glyn Davies talks the most sense by saying that AMs from all parties should have stepped forward and personally defended their spending decisions.

He said: “You can’t make a claim on the public purse without being willing to justify it in public... I accept that every purchase was approved and for a good reason but unless the purchaser is willing to stand up and justify it in public the public takes a dim view.”

Yes Suzie the clue is in the heading....

Blogs will continue to be posted by other contributors

....and yet never a mention of Tory issues. And Miss Wagstaff was about for many of those that happened previously.

Anonymous 15 December 2008 at 13:39

This blog should be more loyal to the party and start standing up for Nick against the unloyal AM's amongst the ranks.

Anonymous 15 December 2008 at 14:16

"Tories in a bad light and yet it wasnt mentioned"

What an excellent defence of the questions you posed. We do miss Plaid Cymru in opposition with their wonderful debating skills. Almost as good as the new Welsh Labour leader...

Anonymous 15 December 2008 at 14:18

I refer the honourable Anonyous 13:38 to the blog description.

Anonymous 15 December 2008 at 15:17

lol...fair play Suze straight from Wagstaffs handbook that one. Yet this blog discusses many things outside the One Wales coalition, this very post being on of them! lol.

In fact the previous 6 posts are not about One Wales. So if it is blogging about that why not the Tories when there are negative issues? thanks for setting that comeback up for me!

"Tories in a bad light and yet it wasn’t mentioned"

What an excellent defence of the questions you posed. We do miss Plaid Cymru in opposition with their wonderful debating skills. Almost as good as the new Welsh Labour leader...

It’s a fair point mate. Your comments make absolutely no defence for not including them. If you wish for me to asses the issues more in depth....

1) No mention of Cairns racist comments - even the Welsh/Italian community laughed off the comment.

Alun Cairns is suspended as a candidate for the Vale. Irrespective of what some Italian Welsh people said many - including my own family were offended. I don’t think Alun Cairns is racist but the comments were and the fact a senior Tory AM was suspended and resigned as shadow minister is certainly an issue worth discussing. Yet no mention here!

2) No Mention of the Lord Roberts fiasco - The report was the common sense approach.

It took months and months and totally went against a policy position that was being advocated by Nick Bourne the leader in Wales (for now at least). That in itself is an embarrassment but even more so when the whole purpose of the report was to address once and for all the position of the party (Cameron's words). As it did not there is a major concern that the party's splits will intensify. Again no mention here.

3) No mention of the Rhodri Dossier mess - Rhodri deserved the criticism.

Nick Bourne publicly attacks his own party and staff for using nasty tactics and denies any knowledge of it. Only to have to make a public apology. A hugely embarrassing U-Turn. Calls into question the honesty of the party and Nick Bourne. The spark behind his current position. Certainly a major faux par for the party. No mention here.

4) No mention of leadership challenge to Bourne - Haven't seen JM on the steps of the Senedd. Rumour and gossip.

Rumour and gossip maybe but its seriously concerning. Miss Wagstaffs blog has made plenty of blogs about who will take over from Rhodri and Mike German (before the contest). That rumour lead to a front page Western Mail spread where Nick Bourn reasserted his position. yet no mention here.

5) No mention of the expenses - all parties was seen in a bad light.

Indeed but not all parties have been attacking their own leader in a bid to oust the and no other party has been buying I-pods at will.

If you can honestly tell me that the above did not warrant political comment the you are either as politically naive as your views appear to suggest or you are trying to defend this blog to much! Miss Wagstaff has returned maybe! lol.

If it’s a Tory mouthpiece and clearly it is, and doesn’t want to speak of these problems then that’s fine. Just admit it. Although having said that I wouldn’t want to admit I’m a Tory supporter at the moment either!

"In fact the previous 6 posts are not about One Wales. So if it is blogging about that why not the Tories when there are negative issues?"

Ever heard of a blogging break? I'm taking a wild stab in the dark here and guessing that these posts are keeping the blog open. You should try thinking outside the box.. lol

Anonymous 15 December 2008 at 15:40

If Pippa's reading this, you do know who's making these comments, don't you?

Hint: read the same comments on Peter Black's blog. The AM's poodle is back.

Senedd Whip 15 December 2008 at 16:00

I should delete all 19 comments above as they are not on thread.

On the other hand. I could leave them in place as Pippa will find the majority amusing when she reads them.

Anonymous 15:27 appears to be on a break of their own. It must be recess.

Referring to the comments made by the anonymous and not Peter Black himself.

So you agree that the blogs can be about politics in general and then you refer me to the blog definition which is to say it is about One Wales. You dont know if your coming or going! lol.

Glad to see your learning senedd whip. finally allowing a bit of freedom to speak and not editing everything to suite the blog.

Someone has given the game away. Shouldn't that be "you're learning", "freedom of speech" and "suit". Another badly educated Plaid nationalist.
