The frustrations of an internet Troll

It seems that I owe Sanddef an apology after jokingly not thanking him for the Miss Tory Staff comment. I have discovered the troll behind certain comments on my posts, which are not particularly damning and not even time consuming to delete. Any blogger will be able to tell you that it's very easy to delete comments when managing a blog.

The pointless 'Miss Tory Staff' comments that ended up - several times - in every post over the last few weeks seem to have stopped (more will come my way due to this post) which proves that the said blogger has realised his mistake. Strange to think that The Steamer has referred to me as "a well-known Labour insider". Each blogger has their own opinion of me, which leaves me none the wiser as to who I actually am. Someone will let me know one day.

Anyone who reads this blog will realise that I'm not in the habit of outing a person, but an anonymous blogger on the other hand is different due to the anonymity.

Perhaps it's because I always look for the best qualities in people that I often get disappointed so easily. In truth, I've always liked the nationalist blogger Che Grav-ara of the Guerrilla Welsh-Fare blog. For starters, we may have different political views, but I do enjoy reading his posts, and respect the fact that he includes links to a wide variety of political bloggers on his own blog (which is always a major plus in the blogosphere, and unusual of a Plaid blogger).

Any blogger is welcome to contribute in the comments section. I rarely delete comments, and if I do, I end up publishing them without the bad language and attribute them to their original owner.

Understandably, 'Che' finds it difficult that I tend to criticise the 'One Wales Government', after all, he is a "mainstream Plaidie; wants independence, has no time for New Labour, and backed the red-green when it came to it." Let's hope that he now practices what he preaches. Let's draw a line under this, 'Che', then hug, and make up.

What has been your best blogging experience?

It is always a good experience to have people comment on your blog and to start a active discussion. I have been lucky of late in that my post seem to have been getting a lot more attention. I am unsure if the content has become more thought provoking or just the hoards of bloggers that have nowhere else to go now Blamerbell has retired are choosing to spread their views around the blogs.

Do you have any prejudices that you are prepared to admit to?

What are they? Although my views are pretty fluid I do carry the stigma that all Tories are bad, all liberals say whatever you want them to just to get your vote and all Labourites are Tories. However I am happy to admit this is a generalist view and that there are a number of Tories (especially the Glyn Davies’ of this world) that contradicts that analysis and do the Conservatives a credit. Whilst they are decreasing there are still some dedicated old guard Labour members (i.e Hywel Francis) that go against the grain of Tony Blair’s spin era. The liberals……well you can’t win them all!

N.B. No bloggers were harmed during the making of this post. No slur caused by labelling someone a tory - on the person or the party. This blog has always been, and remains, non-aligned. Readers [particularly those of Labour and Plaid] should note that the blog description remains the same - as always - and can be read at the top of the page.

...and unusual of a Plaid blogger.

Hardly.

This blog has always been, and remains, non-aligned

Nice try Pippa, but if it sounds Tory and smells Tory, then it is Tory.

Miss Wagstaff 29 October 2008 at 08:15

Spoken like a true blinkered nationalist ;)

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 08:17

Ords - why would you think that?
I get accused of being Tory too, I am not, I am a socialist , but have no regard for any party.
Holding up issues for investigation or scrutiny isn't always party political and any way should not be a platform for personal abuse.

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 08:26

That's because Wagstaff and Valleys Mam are the same person.

Ordovicius is the biggest troll on the Welsh blogs.

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 09:31

that bloody Ordo-vicious is the most vicious troll on the trollosphere

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 14:37

On looking at the balance of your politics, you are without doubt a Tory and should consequently be comfortable with the label.

Isn't it about time that you 'outed' yourself as one of Thatcher's children? You'll feel so much better for it and heh, Glyn and DJE are very decent chaps (shame about David Jones/Davies though).

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 15:16

I just 'luv' the way Ordo censors posts posted to his blog to suit his view of the world, and then he has the audacity "mark you" to claim bias in others. That said, he’s a swell guy, and gosh darn it, a gentleman (seriously, he does care and he is very intelligent and deserves a big break in his life). Matchmaker that I am not (but have been accused of more than once), I just wish Pendroni would see that. Ordo clearly has a thing for Pendroni and this gentle naïve lady is very much needing of Ordo’s gentle support. It is my sincere hope that these two blog-ships-in-the-night raise their game from blog-pals to blog-mates, the Welsh blogosphere needs one fairy tale to come true.

Ordo might be a troll sometimes, but he has a good heart. I hope he is able to share it with someone.

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 15:36

Ordo cannot work due to a disability, but is able to blog, surely there is a job for him if he can blog and pay to go on nice trips.

He is a bully boy, people have his cards marked.

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 17:00

Blind people do work. Blind people do receive special training and modified kit to handle, e.g., a switchboard/receptionist job. I know, I've worked for a company that employed a blind person; a blind-person trainer would come by every now and then to check he was doing OK or if he needed further training/kit to do his receptionist job. He was very good at his job even though he was about 90% blind. He said he could make out dark and light, but couldn't see objects. He learnt the steps into work, and used public transport. He was excellent at his job and was a great guy. He had such a nice voice; it was always nice to hear his voice on the phone. He had such a positive outlook despite his obviously serious handicap.

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 17:10

Anonymous (15:36)> I don’t believe that Ordo is a bully per se, rather he has a short fuse for those he perceives as ‘idiots’; in this respect Ordo is a bit like John McCain (but don’t tell Ordo that I said so) … pity really, because in the final analysis Ordo really can’t have a lasting love for Pendroni. Ordo must know this deep inside, which just reinforces the anger-motor that you perceive outwardly as a “bully boy” with his “cards marked”. Love is a strange beast. But Ordo needs the love of a fine woman … to love someone deeply and forever; sadly the closest Ordo is going to get to “forever” are “forever first class stamps” that can be purchased at any US post office and some 711s.

Miss Wagstaff 29 October 2008 at 18:04

What on earth is all this talk about Sanddef and Heledd (Pendroni)?

I've taken it for granted that when I post on a particular topic, people go off thread, but now it seems a match.com is emerging.

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 18:23

If Ordo can't get a job where he lives - why doesn't he do what other Welsh people often do, "go where the work is"? Is he such a pompous ass that he believes he is above what other Welsh people are forced to do? After all he does travel - his latest foray is to Ireland, "Ireland for two or three days to see a man about a guitar". Has Ordo told the dole people about this trip? He should be available for work, but can get permission to have a trip/break even if listed as a benefit claimant.

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 21:57

Holding up issues for investigation or scrutiny isn't always party political

No, but pushing a Tory line is, well, a very Tory thing to do.

Ordovicius is the biggest troll on the Welsh blogs

Bless.

I just 'luv' the way Ordo censors posts posted to his blog to suit his view of the world

Actually I just censor trolls and comments that are overly obsessed with me (this comments thread should give some idea of the stuff I have to wade through. Oh, and by the way Ordo groupies, keep them coming please, I really love deleting them over my morning coffee).

Ordo clearly has a thing for Pendroni

Gosh. I'll be in Hello next. Lembit look out, here I come.

Ordo might be a troll sometimes

Never, actually. I don't do anonymity, I don't need to.

...he has a good heart. I hope he is able to share it with someone.

Stop trying to chat me up. I don't date anonymongs ;)

Ordo cannot work due to a disability, but is able to blog, surely there is a job for him if he can blog and pay to go on nice trips.

Bless. Oh, and take a look at a map. Note that there's a place called Holyhead near where I live, and that it runs inexpensive ferries to a nearby city called Dublin.

I don’t believe that Ordo is a bully per se, rather he has a short fuse for those he perceives as ‘idiots’

Not at all. I take my time reading such comments, and only delete them after having a long good laugh.

people have his cards marked

Ooooh, scary!

But Ordo needs the love of a fine woman …

It's no good you know, you'll just have to join the queue behind my other groupies.

He should be available for work, but can get permission to have a trip/break even if listed as a benefit claimant.

Bless. Believe it or not, but I'm actually not legally confined to my place of residence. If you'd prefer people who have incurable degenerative genetic disorders to be refused the right to visit family and friends, perhaps you should consider investing in a time machine and moving to 1930s Germany, which I'm sure would be much more to your liking.

Now, you'll "all" be glad to know that I'm back home and that blogging will resume as normal. It's very satisfying to know that I inspire such interest.

Anonymous 29 October 2008 at 22:41

What on earth is all this talk about Sanddef and Heledd (Pendroni)?

At a guess it stems from me, when asked by Matt Wardman to suggest the name of a Plaid blogger to ask to contribute to his blog, suggesting Heledd.

But wait, only you'd know that MW! Well, well, well.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 02:25

Ordo you old devil you, so you do have eyes for Heledd! Good for you! But when are you and your Plaid friends going to stop looking down at Welsh people who move to find work?

Btw, it wasn't MW that outed you.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 09:11

Pippa

Che is one of my favourite Welsh bloggers; fair-minded and open to real debate. Ordo's talents, by contrast, are limited to translating. If he's ever had an original thought it has not been committed to his blog.

So I'd take the Tory jibes as the sort of lower brain activity they undoubtedly are. Ordo is a Plaid automaton; no surprise he can't imagine independent thought in another blogger.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 10:24

LOL. Keep digging dear, you're half way to Oz already ;)

Anyhoo, seeing as there's only me and you on this thread MW, I'd best get back to my own (sockpuppet free) blog.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 10:41

The personal stuff aside, the quality and integrity of Ordovicius’ blog is what should be questioned.

Many comments are stopped by ordo – even benign political points that don’t agree with his own. FACT

His primary function is to record what others are saying, without any real contribution from himself. FACT

His defence is merely to get all clever and give a few word answers – ‘Aw Bless’, ‘Oh I am scared’ etc.

He ultimately write numerous blogs at the tax payers expense, the question remains – is he ‘actively looking for work’ when he is writing his blogs?

Of course that last point is a personal question, but numerous times he has spoken about welfare reforms without declaring his self interest in them not being reformed. People are whacked when their party interest are served when blogging…

http://this-is-sparta.blogspot.com/2008/07/welfare-reform-and-would-be-first.html (look at the comments on the post)

Che Grav-ara 30 October 2008 at 10:45

I can't claim credit for the Miss Tory Staff comment I’m sorry. Didn't make it up. Although I thought it funny and wish I did! But after putting it on the once felt bad so took it down. As you say no bloggers were harmed! Still you have affirmed my comments on NM’s blog that, judging by you, not all Tories are bad!

Che Grav-ara 30 October 2008 at 10:50

P.S

thanks for the link

Miss Wagstaff 30 October 2008 at 10:52

You're welcome. Since day-one you've always had a link on this blog.

Che Grav-ara 30 October 2008 at 11:03

What can I say my views are partisan but my links are not!

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 11:37

"He ultimately write numerous blogs at the tax payers expense"

Total cost to taxpayer of running blogspot blogs: £0.00p

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 12:44

"Total cost to taxpayer of running blogspot blogs: £0.00p"

Cost to the tax payer paying his benefits?

Benefits paid due to him being 'unable' to work.

Which in turn raises question of a person's inability to work, but a clear ability to write numerous blogs in a number of different languages.

Every hour he is blogging, he is not 'job seeking'.

He can blog, he can work.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 12:50

I think the Ordo bashing has gone far enough now. The guy is out of work because a disability i hardly think attacking him is a productive way forward. Should we really be attacking him because he has an interest in the democratic process. What next? Should everyon on benifits be suspended from voting!

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 13:33

I agree. Ordo's personal circumstances are irrelevant.

The fact that he is an unimaginative, intolerant boor who cannot debate in a civil fashion is not.

Greg Lewis 30 October 2008 at 14:32

I agree with ‘anonymous’, ‘anonymous’ and ‘anonymous’, and also ‘anon’, and ‘pseudonym’, that we need a lot more transparency in politics and political discussion in Wales.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 15:25

The point isn’t that he has a disability, it is that once you enter the political debate in a public way such as a blog, your own behaviour, personality and beliefs are scrutinised by those you debate with. I think he is perhaps given more stick because of his manner online. He is not a very collegiate person to debate with, resorting to petty insults when the going gets tough; he deletes comments that don’t suit his world view rather than something offensive.

An earlier point about welfare is case in point, people will delve into his own situation when he lambasts welfare reform, it is natural curiousity to consider where, how and why he has come to that view. He is the first to lay into Pippa for having a tory agenda, why is it so wrong to question his personal agenda?

People would be far more willing to back him if these supposedly offensive posts were allowed to be posted up on his blog without him filtering them. If he is the target to any offensive abuse, people who read blogs would back him to the hilt I am sure of that.

I also think the whole ‘you are on benefits’ jibe is probably motivated by the fact that he is doing something that is publicly viewable, thereby people can rightly or wrongly question his inability to work when he can spend what must be hours a day blogging. The guy is blatantly able and intelligent, technologically knowledgeable and speaks a few languages, hardly not employable. Added to this, the guy posts up how great his blog is doing! It is hardly crime of the year to ask those pertinent questions, whether he HAS to answer them is another point.

“Spending hours on blogs” is probably a huge part of most political researchers job role, surely some AM will employ him?

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 15:50

surely some AM will employ him?

I'm not so sure. Ask yourself why it is is that someone who has dedicated so much time to maintaining his blog(s) has yet to get any writing commissions or punditry work mainstream media, especially the Welsh language press.

The answer is that he doesn't output anything of value except translations of people who can write and who are capable of original thought. That's why his blog is read.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 16:15

There are plenty of blind people who have a job and there are loads of Welsh people who can't get work where they live and so they move, many overseas. Ordo can work a job, but clearly he spends most of his time blogging and not searching for work. I remember when I was searching for work I sent out 20 letters a day – I even rung up people who I thought could make hiring decisions, small business owners – anyone who could make a hiring decision. I wrote letters to firms based outside Wales – to firms in London, Scotland, USA, all over the shop.

I wrote so many letters that some folks wrote back to tell me that I had sent letters to several people in their firm. I realized that letters weren’t doing it and so started faxing people. I wouldn’t stop, I was relentless, and sometimes I would work in a bakery on night shifts to let me attend interviews in the daytime. I would shower and travel all the way to London after clocking off at 6AM and be back by 6PM to work another 12 hour shift on a hot oven doing tins, taking trays off. It got to the point I could operate most of the plant at the bakery and they wanted me to be a “trainee manager”. Like I needed training to do the job – I had already worked in Dispatch, slicers, ovens, preparing mixes. I could take apart slicers and replace blades.

The other thing I did to get a job was constantly make myself more marketable, so I did training courses provided by the Job Seekers people. They even had masters level courses with tuition and living expenses (via a regular Giro if memory serves).

It seems to me that Ordo is too satisfied with his life right now, it is clear that he looks down on Welsh people who because of job situations end up living outside Wales. The occasional cryptic remark and sneering attitude, like we are no longer Welsh enough because we live thousands of miles from our beloved Wales.

Clearly Ordo has several skills that would enable him to land and keep a job regardless of the fact that he is blind. There are PLENTY of blind people who work regular jobs like receptionist, telephone jobs, etc. I worked at a company that had a receptionist/person who run the switchboard directing calls. Perhaps Ordo believes such work to be too demeaning - well, this Welsh guy worked nights in factories (e.g., Metpost on the west side of Cardiff), Merrets Bakery on Maesycoed Road, Memory Lane Cakes when a young man looking for better work. That's the point isn't it? To be working towards finding 'better work'. But Ordo won't take note; just throw up another cryptic 'clever' (really not very clever judging by the number of folks he has p***ed off with his less than civil debating style) remark. But I still like the old devil, he has a spark or two, but he needs to spend time looking for work ... for 'better work'.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 16:37

Keep on obsessing 'folks'. It makes it all worth while. Don't expect me to publish your comments though, I have standards as well as a life ;)

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 17:15

"I have standards as well as a life ;)"

A man who writes and trolls blogs all day has a life. Good one.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 17:28

I hardly think a sockpuppet qualifies as "everyone else", much as that truth may pain you ;)

Dearie me, hanging around to instantly rebut comments with exotic accusations of a conspiracy against you.

Yes, I see how much you're enjoying it now.

Dearie me, hanging around to instantly rebut comments with exotic accusations of a conspiracy against you.

What exotic theories were they then? Do tell.

es, I see how much you're enjoying it now.

Took you long enough ;)

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 20:32

Ian Titherington 30 October 2008 at 21:01

Having a dig at someone with a disability, through anonymity.

The Tories will never change.

Keep up the good work Ordo, as exposing their true nature is always a timely reminder for the electorate.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 21:06

"Having a dig at someone with a disability, through anonymity.

The Tories will never change."

Why Tory? Do people sign in with a blue banner when they comment? Ian, that is a ridiculous comment to make. You must be a sockpuppet!

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 21:36

What exotic theories were they then?

Bless.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 22:40

Still obsessing about this thread, then?

How sweet.

Ian Titherington 30 October 2008 at 22:43

Yes, I am a Plaid supporter and member. I base my opinions on the pattern of comments on this blog, which are generally supportive of the Tory line that this blogger pushes.
I re-state that some of the attacks on this blog aimed at Ordo are a bit sick and assuming that they are from the same anons that frequent this site, are undoubtdedly Tories. This is of course not accusing all Tories of holding such views, but you do have such delights as David Davies MP in your ranks, which does not exactly help your argument.

Anonymous 30 October 2008 at 23:25

Ian,

One man does not make a party. How narrow minded are you to suggest that everyone commenting here is a tory and having to resort to mentioning David Davies MP to make a point? Please don't answer this rhetorical question as the hole is getting deeper by the minute.

I'm a Labour supported by the way i.e. not a tory

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 03:05

Still obsessing about this thread, then?

Bless.

How narrow minded are you to suggest that everyone commenting here is a tory

Che, Ian and I are obviously Plaid supporters. That only leaves you and the Tory then. Given your contributions thus far, you really should consider joining the Conservatives. It's not like anyone from Labour will ever employ you again, now is it?

;)

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 03:09

PS

Please don't answer this rhetorical question

Please learn what a rhetorical question is.

...the hole is getting deeper by the minute.

It is indeed. Have you reached Australia yet?

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 07:25

Truly Pavlovian.

I must admit, this is all quite entertaining. I honestly didn't think you could make yourself appear even more ridiculous than you routinely do on your own blog. You continue to exceed my expectations.

Come on, come on - say "bless" as response. In future, all we need do is ring the bell for you to start salivating.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 09:00

P.S. If only Ordo spent this amount of time on his posts instead of commenting. Some of his comments here are longer than most of his posts.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 09:01

P.P.S. Ordo is Ian and Ian is Ordo. It's how he works the blogs.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 10:51

Ordo - LOOK FOR A JOB! Your disability is not the controlling factor in not finding work.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 13:06

Ordo has removed you from his list of Top Welsh Blogs. You must be worried.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 13:51

I imagine she's not around as she hasn't commented since 30 October.

It looks to be as Ordo has defended himself and left it at that. Anti Ordo comments have been removed from this blog before as I've read something by Pippa in another post.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 13:55

"Attack ordo over having a disability?"

I think he's being attacked for his style and type of blogging and not his disability.

"Whats your vendetta against him and why is this sort of discrimination acceptable?"

Miss W doesn't seem to have a vendetta. She even advertised his blog awards. Haven't seen any anti Ordo posts on here.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 13:58

"I imagine she's not around as she hasn't commented since 30 October."

Haven't you heard that she's giving up blogging????

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 18:13

Ooh. Miss Wagstaff deleting posts now. Tut tut. Bit too late now tho, innit? Damage done.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 18:40

What damage? Ordo has been getting some very good advice. He needs to be in work or be looking for a job.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 18:42

"It looks to be as Ordo has defended himself and left it at that. Anti Ordo comments have been removed from this blog before as I've read something by Pippa in another post."

Actually you only have to read the thread from the beginning to see that this has not been the case. But then Pippa is hardly going to delete her own sockpuppets, now is she?

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 19:15

Like Ordo doesn't have his own collectio of "sockpuppets". The "man is a beaver" when it comes to snide remarks and excuses (about not getting a job).

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 20:42

I've read this blog since it was started last year and there's never been a vendetta against Ordo or any other blogger.

It's obvious that Ordo's comments on this post have angered some of his enemies. Let's be honest about it. He's annoyed a lot of people over the years with his approach to blogging.

Senedd Whip 31 October 2008 at 20:49

Pippa is self employed and has a young child, so I doubt if she has the time or inclination to be a sockpuppet as suggested.

She's also having a break to deal with some family problems at the moment and all recent posts have been drafted to be published at set intervals.

What's the point in being a sockpuppet? This blog hardly pulls punches.

Anonymous 31 October 2008 at 22:54

Thank God it's gone quiet on this post.

Anonymous 1 November 2008 at 00:26

"Pippa is self employed and has a young child, so I doubt if she has the time or inclination to be a sockpuppet as suggested."

You'd be surprised. If you weren't one yourself.

Anonymous 1 November 2008 at 06:53

Thank God it's gone quiet on this post.

Ordo's obviously gone off to lick his wounds/steal more of other people's material for his blog.

Anonymous 1 November 2008 at 09:17
